- October, 2022The bear most certainly knew Adam was saving him. Even tried to climb on top. Had to chuckle a bit at that because that's kind of a thing when someone is drowning and somebody else is trying to save them. I believe Adam was protected. He had a little guardian angel sitting on his shoulder keeping him and Smokey afloat. When one massive black bear decided that it was a good idea to enter a residential area in search of snacks, it was up to rescue workers to take him back home. They got ready to dart him and take him home after he fell asleep but the animal had other plans. The dart scared him and he tried to run away. Bolting right into the river.
